June 2024 marked a memorable start to the 2024 summer wedding season with a beautiful celebration at He'eia State Park. The bride and groom, Megan and Timmy, who have roots both in Hawaii and California, chose to begin their married life on the east side of Oahu. They recently returned home to create an unforgettable island wedding and start their new chapter as a married couple, where family and friends played integral roles in making their dream day a reality.
A Unique Island Wedding Vision
Megan and Timmy envisioned a refreshing, chic take on the traditional island wedding, focusing on a neutral, endless summer vibe. Their wedding incorporated lei, lush and unique florals- they opted for tropical alternatives to move away from the traditional Hawaii wedding, and the natural beauty of the venue. Despite the hot weather, the day was nothing short of gorgeous, exuding romance and island elegance.
Venue Highlight: He'eia State Park
He'eia State Park is an ideal venue for couples who are budget-conscious but willing to invest in draping, lighting, and other décor elements to transform the space. The park offers a variety of indoor and outdoor options, catering to different preferences and guest counts.
Megan and Timmy opted for an unconventional ceremony location at the "Leaping Point," a spot not typically used for weddings. This choice provided a stunning ocean backdrop framed by palm trees, creating a picturesque setting for their vows. It's important to note that the "Leaping Point" area accommodates 50-70 guests, so couples with larger guest lists might consider the "Hula Mound" or the "Banquet Hall" for their ceremony.
The venue also features a bridal suite near the "Leaping Point" area. This air-conditioned space is furnished with chairs and tables, offering ample room for the bridal party to prepare and relax before the ceremony.

Tips for Your Wedding at He'eia State Park
Guest Accommodation: The AC banquet hall accommodates up to 300 guests.
Public Access: As a state park, He'eia is open to the public. Renters have access to the facilities from 10 am to 11 pm, but general visitors are allowed on the grounds during park hours. The onsite staff begins informing the public about private events later in the afternoon, around 3-4 pm, ensuring the grounds are primarily yours after this time.
Public Restrooms: The park does not have private restrooms, so keep this in mind if you plan to get ready at the venue. Park users are permitted to use the restrooms until the park closes later in the day.
Alcohol Policy: He'eia State Park has a strict alcohol policy. Alcohol is only allowed within the banquet hall and on the cemented patio in front of the hall. Consuming alcohol in other areas, including the bridal suite, is prohibited. Security staff enforce this rule, and violations can result in HPD being called, the event being shut down and the loss of the security deposit.
No Open Flame: The park does not allow open flames. Opt for flameless candles, which still create a dreamy ambiance without the mess.
